New York's #MeToo Statute has been Expanded

  • New York's #MeToo statute has been expanded to bar some of the most common terms for which employers bargain in settlement agreements involving claims of discrimination, harassment or retaliation. The law took effect November 17, 2023. For details, see our blog here.
  • New York City's law banning New York City employers from discriminating against applicants and employees based on their height or weight (Intro. 209-A) became effective on November 22, 2023.
  • Effective February 6, 2024, under SB 7all private employers in Texas will be prohibited from imposing or enforcing COVID-19 vaccine mandates as a condition of employment. While the practical impact of this new law may be limited, employers should still take note. For details, see our blog here.
