The District of Columbia becomes the latest to require pay transparency in job listings

The District of Columbia becomes the latest to require pay transparency in job listings – more here!

  • Transparency requirements increasing globally >> the trend continues!
    • See the updates from our colleagues in Toronto here
    • Note that we have an easy-to-navigate Global Pay Transparency Matrix that monitors the legal pay equity requirements and forthcoming developments across over 70 jurisdictions (of which over 40 currently have transparency or reporting requirements) to help manage a global workforce. This Matrix is intended to be a cost-effective way to stay on top of ever-changing pay transparency and reporting requirements around the world and covers (1) current, pending, and anticipated pay equity reporting obligations and disclosure legislation, (2) compliance deadlines, and (3) penalties for non-compliance. The content is updated bi-annually to ensure it remains current and deadlines remain applicable. I've attached a sample for the UK so you can see what the information looks like.
    • Covered countries currently include:  Algeria | Argentina | Armenia | Australia | Austria | Belarus | Belgium | Brazil | Bulgaria | Canada | Chile | China | Colombia | Costa Rica | Croatia | Czech Republic | Denmark | Dominican Republic | Ecuador | Egypt | Estonia | Finland | France | Germany | Georgia | Ghana | Greece | Guatemala | Hong Kong | Hungary | India | Indonesia | Ireland | Israel | Italy | Japan | Kazakhstan | Kenya | Korea | Latvia | Lebanon | Lithuania | Malaysia | Mexico | Morocco | New Zealand | Netherlands | Nigeria | Norway | Panama | Paraguay | Peru | Philippines | Poland | Portugal | Puerto Rico | Romania | Russian Federation | Saudi Arabia | Serbia | Singapore | Slovakia | Slovenia | South Africa | Spain | Sweden | Switzerland | Taiwan | Thailand | Turkey | Ukraine | United Arab Emirates | United Kingdom | United States (including all 50 states) | Uruguay | Venezuela | Vietnam

    • We knew this was coming (low hanging fruit for interested plaintiffs' counsel) and now here it is. A batch of proposed class actions have been filed in Washington state against major companies such as adidas AG, Home Depot Inc., and Marriott International Inc. We’re tracking how these suits progress.
